This week we’ve been diving into ways to kick stress to the curb, and here’s another gem—gardening. The weather may be cold, but it’s the perfect time to start dreaming and planning your next garden.
With food at the stores becoming so expensive, growing your own food is the very best option. You may
remember me saying in the Treasures of Healthy Living Video series - 'whoever controls your food controls you'.
This has been true since the garden of Eden.
For us today, to best control our health is to grow whatever we can.
Never think this is
beyond you. In fact, it is totally something you can do for your health.
Consider all the ways you can grow just one item.
Perhaps it is herbs on the windowsill.
Or an indoor garden tower.
The yard is the best place, but not the only place.
If you don't have a yard, see who does and help them grow their garden.
A good square foot of garden space can grow food to feed 1 person, ok, well at least give them a portion
of their food.
I have extra ground and would let people add a garden space, and I know many other people who would do the same.
I met a farmer at the market one Saturday who bragged about his 2 acres of organic garden. He claimed to have more food than he could ever sell. So, I visited that garden and he was not exaggerating. He had more food than he could sell or giveaway.
So, I offered to help him in his garden for food in return. It was a blessed arrangement, as
he also needed to renew his relationship with Christ. God had appointed that time together.
Food is plentiful - I should say, good food is plentiful to those who are seeking God as their Provider.
Now, it is your turn. Where can you grow food?
If you need more ideas, in this video I share my top places to grow food and I also share my new raised bed.
It is my dream come true garden bed.
Kris Hopkins who makes these
beds, was at our last retreat and when I saw the beauty of these beds, I was hooked.
Now in this video you can see them in my garden.
BUT WAIT - that is not all.
When we consider planning our next garden, this tool by Clyde is a MUST!
