,
This past weekend was incredible and very much a reminder of what I sometimes forget. And yet, why do I always need to be reminded of this one truth?
I will get to that truth, but first I want to share the details of all that has transpired lately.....
Two weeks ago, we traveled to my granddaughter's graduation and I must say it was
the most beautiful graduation I have attended. It was a class of 6 homeschoolers. And they graduated in style.
Then we quickly traveled home to get ready for Chef Moshe Basson, from Israel, to come and stay at our home. For 4 days. Now this stretches me in that hospitality is not my strong suit. In fact, when you come visit, I will tell you where everything is, and then say - help yourself.
We have two bedrooms for guests, one downstairs next to our
bedroom and another upstairs in a newly completed addition, which is like a new apartment, and it is also my prayer room.
When Chef Moshe arrived, I saw that in his 70s he was more fit than many people I know. So, I took him upstairs for his stay. He loved his temporary home.
When he came down the next morning, I asked how he slept? He showed me his phone app, and it showed a high 93% which was his best sleep in years. He said our home is full
of peace. That was such a blessing to hear.
The second morning he came down, I asked again how his sleep was only this time it was below 78% and he showed how it was interrupted at 2 am.
If you are following what is happening in Israel, that is when the airport was bombed. I learned then that the chef and his family live near the airport. They heard the sirens, the bomb coming in the air and they heard the IDF. He was on the phone most of the night with his family. They
were all safe, but the sirens and always sleeping, expecting a siren, can be hard on the nerves of the children and the adults.
Here is my reminder.....
Now, let me share how chef Moshe lived his time while at my home. When he needed peace in his heart, he would step outside and start walking around my yard and pray. He would lift his hands in prayer.
Once, while I was driving him to get supplies, I asked him a question and his hand near me went up as
a block to my words. I then realized he was praying.
When he was distressed, or just in need of talking with His Father, he would step away and 'go into his prayer closet or inner room' and seek the Lord.
He told me it was not about requesting of the Lord; it was about thanking the Lord.
The reminder to me: Annette, don't get so busy that you don't take time in the moment to go to the Father.
Let EVERYWHERE and ANYWHERE be your
prayer closet, your inner room.
When health is a struggle - go into a time of prayer - anywhere, everywhere.
When family is dealing with a crisis - go into a time of prayer.
I am personally always in a mindset of prayer, continually praying, yet, seeing chef Moshe just step outside and pause everything he was doing to pray - that was the reminder I needed.
I tend to keep my keyboard typing and pray, yet what I was
reminded of was to step away, let my mind pause, and then pray thanksgiving.
Why can't I remember this - I let time and assignments take priority.
What about you?
How do you keep the most important step in this biblical wellness journey - front and center?
I am always thankful for our Inner Circle calls, they keep me focused on what is important. And I so love seeing the Ah-Ha on each person's face as they apply these
truths. I so love Carol's teaching for all of us to learn this basic truth and be reminded.
Now, let me tell you about the cooking! 🥑
Saturday, my home was filled with 9 guests to be here for Chef Moshe's cooking. He delighted everyone. The time was expected to last 3 hours. Cooking, storytelling and eating.
Well, 5 hours later, they were still enjoying their time. And the food was so incredible. All fresh, all filled with biblical insight about the
food and the land.
It was such an amazing time.🍆
Then on Sunday, we did it again. Only this time more for the filming aspect, but we had 2 ladies beg to come back. So our audience of 2 enjoyed another 6 hours of cooking, teaching, and eating. Another fantastic day. And wow was the food good.
Then on Monday, chef asked to stay an extra day so he could just relax. And I am so glad he did. He just relaxed on the patio, enjoyed the freshness of the yard
and garden. But then his cooking love kicked in and he asked me to invite people for dinner.
Another meal with 9 people around the table and 5 kids playing upstairs.
What a weekend. What delicious food and what lessons we learned.
I learned more about biblical foods from Chef Moshe than I have in my entire library collection. And, some herbs that I had in my garden were labeled incorrectly.
But I cannot leave you without sharing this
funny.
In the morning, the chef likes coffee with cream. Coffee is not the best at my house. In fact, My daughter in law will sometimes slip away to the convenience store to get her favorite coffee.
Yet, I set up my keurig that I offer guests, and some coffee pods. He made a fresh cup of coffee. I offered him the raw milk we use.
After sniffing the milk, I said it was goat's milk. He thought it was ok.
Then he took a sip - and quickly told me the milk was
bad.
I sniffed it - and he was right - in fact several days past bad. WHOA!
Well, next I offered to make him breakfast - (I know he was thinking about the coffee) He quickly said - let me cook for you!🤣
Such an amazing weekend. Prayer time in the yard - getting away from the world.
Coffee with rotten milk - twice, I did it again with another milk the next day (how many people feed guests rotten milk two days in a row🤣)
Meals from herbs
mentioned in the Bible - every day
New friendships - always a good ingredient in God's plan.
And incredible blessings.
Thanks for letting me share my story. I need to finish this quickly as the yard and my time of prayer are calling me.
