Happy Sabbath ,
Cancelled!
We read the words in our text last Saturday from United Airlines, yet, hoped it was not so. Then we rebooked on Delta, feeling confident our long-awaited trip to Israel would happen soon.
Then Tuesday this week Delta/Air France texted the same: Cancelled.
It was official. Our trip to Israel is not happening. In
fact, as you are reading this today, we were to be filming near the Western wall.
Yes, the world is in turmoil, yet I always feel safe on the land God promised.
Now what?
The word cancelled always creates a twist in our hearts and minds. Something we were looking forward to is now not going to happen.
It can work the other way as well. Something we did not want to have come to pass gets cancelled.
I remember in college when one
professor always gave a Friday morning pop-quiz. When he walked in and said he was cancelling the pop-quiz, I was super stoked for the entire weekend.
Here is how I handle this mental shift:
- AMEN DAY - when I start the day with: Today is going to be an AMEN DAY, I heartily agree with what God brings my way. I am already setting my mind to be ready for shifts, surprises, and set-backs. I know He is going before me. He is orchestrating my days and He knows what
is around the corner.
We are rescheduling our trip to Israel and I am continuing to work on the Leader Guide and Study Guide for this amazing Bible study we will film later this year. My goal is to have this in your hands by January 1!
- B3 Victory - use the B3 Victory coaching model to coach ourselves. We sort out our thoughts and make sure they agree with God's Word. This means, I see the change in plans as there must be a reason. Instead of complaining, arguing with
family, or living in doubt. The B3 Victory is Beliefs, Behaviors and Blessings.
Our beliefs about the cancellation will determine my next action or behavior and this all determines the blessings I experience.
We coach/teach this extensively in the Inner Circle coaching group, and this is a key element in our new coach
training coming up in August.
- Don't Go To Food: The old Annette would have gone to food, when life threw a struggle or set back. Today, That's Not Me Anymore. The day will come when we do our filming in Israel. Food is not going to help make that happen. Food cannot solve any problem or struggle.
